Acknowledgements

The project leading to this presentation of the Life and Thought of Arthur Norman Prior owes great thanks to several persons and institutions. First, and above all, we wish to thank Mary Prior for her forthcoming and helpful answers to questions on her late husband Arthur N. Prior's work and life, and her kind support in all manners.

We are indebted to several distinguished researchers, who have written on Prior and/or have known him personally. We want especially to thank Jack Copeland for answering various questions, and Kit Fine for supporting the project and taking a considerable interest in it. We also thank Nuel Belnap, Robert Bull, Anthony Kenny, Storrs McCall, Peter McKenzie, William Newton-Smith, Martin Prior, and Alberto Zanardo for kind assistance and stimulating discussions.

We wish to thank those institutions and bodies who have supported or otherwise helped this project:
  • Balliol College for a gracious offer of accomodation while working on Prior's papers;
  • Aarhus University Research Foundation for a grant towards the construction of this WWW-site;
  • The Faculty of Arts of the University of Aarhus for supporting the project by relieving Per Hasle from teaching duties;
  • The Centre for Cultural Research at the University of Aarhus for practical and moral support of the project; and
  • The staff of the Bodleian Library in the Department for Western Manuscripts, and especially in the Modern Papers Reading Room, for kind assistance when working with Prior's papers there. A special thanks to Colin Harris in this connection.
Finally, we wish to thank three persons directly involved in the production of this WWW-site: Dr. Torben Bräuner, who has in particular helped clarify some issues relating to mathematical questions on Prior's work; Ms. Tine Kleif, who with enthusiasm  and great skill has helped organise and finalise the descriptions, on which this WWW-site is founded; and Mr. Henrik Gylling Møller, who with similar enthusiasm has been responsible for the final technical construction of this site.
